Tucked away in a corner of the great Breede River valley, we create our wines in the clear mountain air from healthy, slow-ripening grapes.
Du Toitskloof Wines
Dating back to only 1962, Du Toitskloof Wines is a young, forward-thinking and innovative winery that quickly established its name as a household wine brand. Beloved for their Fairtrade Initiative and projects, the winery has been an accredited Fairtrade producer for almost 13 years and continue to support and sustain social development programmes that have gone on to become some of the most successful in the world.
Du Toitskloof Wines build on three principles; they believe in always delivering a product of utmost quality, consistently, without compromising ethically and pursuing the vision of those whose hands spent time skillfully crafting the Du Toitskloof brand over the years.
The name Fairtrade may not mean much to many people, but for the farm workers of the 22 farms and 13 members, it means the world. Since 2005 when Du Toitskloof Wines became one of the first wineries in South Africa to participate in a social responsibility project under the auspices of Fairtrade, the Du Toitskloof Fairtrade Initiative has gone on to see more than 2000 people directly benefit from all the various projects that include children’s day-care centres, a clinic and mobile clinic, a primary school with a bus-service, bursaries for high-school learning and tertiary education, adult literacy projects, a computer centre, a mobile library and media centre as well as health and safety education, to name a few.
